Marcel Dirsus is an expert on economic development and political violence during major political transitions. Most recently, Dirsus spent six months working for a multinational company in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also has experience of working in strategy consulting and for the Minister of State at the German Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). In addition, he has also worked for a non-profit in India. His work has recently been published by Foreign Policy and Foreign Affairs.
Dirsus holds a Master’s of Science in Russian & East European Studies from the University of Oxford (St. Antony’s College). Before that, he was educated at the University of Warwick (UK), Zhejiang University (China) and at Sciences Po Paris (France). At the moment, he’s pursuing his PhD in Political Science at the University of Kiel, Germany. Besides his native German, Dirsus speaks English, French and basic Russian. He’s a member of the German Council on Foreign Relations.
